Quest Apartment Hotels executive fulfils lifelong dream to buy a franchise

Sarah Stowe

Working as a franchise relationship manager has been a decade’s dedication for Michael Bevilaqua. But now he’s also the proud owner of a franchise himself.

“I’ve dreamed of owning my own business since I was a kid, and it’s something my wife and I have discussed for years now,” he says.

The Quest Apartment Hotels executive has seen first hand the way the business operates, and the level of support provided for franchisees.

“Working as a Quest franchise relationship manager over the last decade I’ve had the opportunity to meet, work and learn from many inspiring people, and develop a detailed understanding of the business model,” he says.

So he knew when it was the right time to buy, that an investment in the Quest business would be the way to go.

“We looked at many different opportunities, but our passion has always been hospitality and accommodation. With three kids, we wanted to ensure that the time was right, which thanks to supportive friends, family and business partners, it now is,” he explains.

Michael and his wife Angalene will start their operational ownership of Quest South Perth Foreshore on 1 October 2020. Behind the scenes are business partners and existing Quest Alice Springs franchisees, Wen Qing Zhao, Bing Feng and Bei Wang.

However, Michael has been heavily involved in the property since its opening last year thanks to a specific Quest program.

The accommodation chain operates a pre-franchising model which sets steady foundations before appointing a suitably qualified franchisee.

David Mansfield, Quest’s chief operating officer, says “Michael has been with Quest South Perth Foreshore since day one, playing a vital role in the successful establishment of the property as one of the most well-reputed accommodation options in central Perth.

“We seek to engage entrepreneurs with a passion for hospitality and exceptional business acumen and are thrilled that Michael is joining our long list of impressive franchisees. We look forward to supporting him and Angalene in this next chapter.”

The Quest business format franchise system has provided business owners with a proven format for 30 years.

Today, with more than 170 properties across Australia, New Zealand, UK and Fiji, Quest has grown to become one of the biggest franchisors in Australia.

“Quest recruits franchisees in an open and supportive fashion, with a rigorous selection process that allows both parties to understand whether the partnership is the right fit,” says David Mansfield.

“With a steady program of new property openings over the comings years, we anticipate many new opportunities to welcome future franchise business owners to the Quest network.”
