EFM and Battery World shine at FCA SA Awards

Inside Franchise Business: FCA SA awardsSouth Australia’s top franchising performers have been recognised in lavish style at the Franchise Council of Australia’s (FCA) Excellence in Franchising Awards Presentation.

The event, held at the prestigious Adelaide Pavilion showcased the top performers across the sector, highlighting the dedication and passion required to become a successful franchisee.

EFM Health Clubs Unley franchisee, Kirri Clark picked up the award for South Australian Single Unit Franchisee of the Year, less than two staff with Battery World Morphett Vale franchisees, Mark and Cindy Edwards receiving the South Australian Single Unit Franchisee of the Year, more than two staff award.

Mary Aldred, CEO of the Franchising Council of Australia said the awards were a celebration of entrepreneurship and community best personified by the winning franchisees.

“What we aim to do through awards nights like tonight is actually showcase some fantastic stories and examples of people really thriving in the sector,” Aldred said.

“They are delivering fantastic outcomes for other people, employing people, giving them a shot at a job; the living embodiment and gold benchmark of franchising is on display.”

For many small business owners are franchisees, awards like these represent a mountain of behind-the-scenes work that often goes unrecognised.

“With a lot of small businesses, the owners are so flat out running their business that they often don’t take the time to take a step back and actually look at the fantastic things they have achieved,” Aldred said.

“Hopefully it gives them a sense of confidence and endorsement.”

The South Australian FCA Excellence in Franchising Awards leads into the national award presentation at the Melbourne convention in October, with both Selover and the Edwards now in the running for nationwide recognition.

Aldred believes the efforts of both winning franchisees typify the commitment to local community and brand that operating a success franchise demands, providing inspiration for those considering a move into the sector.

“The best ambassadors for the sector are the people here tonight, the franchisees particularly, who are doing some amazing things in their local community, employing people, particularly in regional areas, but of course in capital cities and metropolitan areas,” Aldred said.

“When they tell their story and how franchising has enabled them to run their own business, give someone a job, that encourages somebody else to look at the sector as a potential opportunity as well."
