Domino’s and Google have partnered to add a speedier way for customers to place and track orders using Google Assistant.

The fast food chain allows customers to save a particular pizza order. Customers can now place a ‘saved order’ via voice activation through their Google Assistant.

This voice-activated virtual helper is available on more than one billion devices, such as the Google Home smart speaker and compatible smartphones.

Domino’s and Google tie up improves ordering experience

Domino’s Group chief digital and technology officer Michael Gillespie said the company was always looking for ways in which to improve the online ordering experience.

“We pride ourselves on introducing new technology that will not only make our customers’ lives easier, but make the entire experience more enjoyable.

“Our online orders regularly exceed 70 per cent of network sales, with more than two million pizzas and sides ordered online every week – so it’s important that we continue to innovate in this space,” he said.

The Domino’s and Google partnership follows last year’s launch of ordering through Amazon Alexa which made it the only quick service restaurant in Australia to use voice technology for online ordering.

Gillespie said the company was committed to leading the internet of food through investing in new and emerging technology.

“We are always working to better understand our customers and how they want to order from us. This seemed like a fantastic opportunity to provide yet another ordering platform.”
