A dessert business has its sights set on Western Australia and Queensland.
Offering ice-cream, waffles and pancakes, coffee and light breakfast items, dessert cafe Gelre is in its 30th year of business. The franchise has introduced non-dairy ice-cream made from fresh coconut milk and developed into more of a dine-in experience as opposed to a kiosk concept.
And there are growth plans for 2017.
Gelre is looking to expand further into Western Australia and Queensland this year, with two new sites expected in each state. There are also plans to grow in Victoria in the future.
Farid Torabi, founder, says ideal franchisees are not investor-types.
“We’re looking for owner/operators,” he said.
As staff costs are a high expense for franchisees, Torabi says owner/operators can manage these costs if they are active in the business.
The initial investment of a franchise ranges from $300,000- $350,000 inclusive of full training, site selection, fitout, marketing and ongoing support.
