Burn 500 calories in 30 minutes claims Curves

Sarah Stowe

According to a study by Baylar University on the intensity of the Curves workout, a fit woman can burn more than 500 calories in just half an hour. Dr Richard Kreider, professor and director of BaylorÍs Exercise and Sport Nutrition Lab, has closely assessed the Curves program since 2002.

The study focused on the intensity of the workout and the number of calories burned. The least fit women burned between 164 to 238 calories in 30 minutes, while the fittest test subjects burned 522 calories in that time. ñAs you progress and become more fit, your capacity for burning calories increases,î explained Kredier.

Following on from his findings, Kreider said, ñThe Curves workout is unique in that the intensity can adjust automatically to the fitness level of the person doing it.î He continued, ñNot only does this help women stick with the program, but it helps them avoid injury while still permitting them to make substantial gains in weight control, fitness and overall health.î
