Hairdressing chain Just Cuts has raised more than $20,000 for national mental health charity SANE Australia.

The pre-Christmas #Hearts4SANE five-day campaign involved stylists in salons collecting coin and EFTPOS donations to help fund the charity’s critical work supporting  people affected by complex mental health issues, as well their carers, friends and family.

Salon clients purchased more than 16,000 SANE Australia Blue Hearts which were displayed in salons over the five-day campaign.

The donations will help boost existing support services such as a national freecall help centre with experienced counsellors, an online chat channel, and moderated 24/7 online forums.

Amber Manning, Just Cuts CEO, was thrilled with the fundraising campaign results and presented SANE with a cheque for $20,000 at the Just Cuts Academy in Caringbah, Sydney.

“I’m amazed by this effort from our 2,500 Australian stylists and their clients for SANE Australia. I was incredibly proud to scroll through social media shots of salons covered with blue hearts over our five-day fundraising drive, and the amount raised by our clients and teams is especially impressive considering Covid has impacted trading for so many small businesses like ours,” she said..

The initiative showcases the community involvement of franchisees and staff across the Just Cuts network, she said.

Late last year the salon chain announced its own initiative to support mental health within the business, partnering with an external provider to give franchise owners, stylists and staff access to a range of counselling services, tools and resources.
