Value-conscious GYG launches $3 Taco

Sarah Stowe

Remember taco night family dinners? Well, Guzman y Gomez has got a $3 taco throwback that founder and CEO Steven Marks rates as the brand’s biggest launch.

Marks said: “The $3 Taco is the most significant product launch in GYG’s history. During this time, we know our guests are looking for value and I’m so proud that we’re able to offer such an affordable menu item to all Australians.”

The taco is made fresh in store every day from chipotle-seasoned hardshell corn tortillas and featuring Mama Flores’ premium ground beef (mince) and topped with fresh iceberg lettuce and shredded Jack cheese.

In line with the government’s latest COVID-19 measures, GYG is open for takeaway, drive-through, delivery and GYG App orders. The $3 Taco will be available at all restaurants across the country.

GYG’s latest menu addition is part of the new 100 per cent clean approach to the fast food chain’s meal ingredients introduced in 2019.

A new “100 per cent clean” menu, three years in the making, saw the chain drop added preservatives, artificial flavours, added colours and unacceptable additives from its food.

“Our menu and processes are constantly evolving in response to global best-practice and, most importantly, customer demand,” Marks said.

“After extensive research into consumer attitudes and trends towards food, and ongoing feedback from our guests, it’s become clear that clean is the new healthy.”

Marks said “Australians should never have to compromise on quality and eating whole real foods, even when it comes to fast food.”
