A frozen yogurt Aussie franchise business has acquired Coca-Cola Amatil’s soft-serve Lumi brand and signed an exclusive licence arrangement with the global firm.

Froyo Robotics, which owns the Reis and Irvy’s robotic soft-serve business in Australia, will hold the license to manufacture and distribute the Lumi range of dairy-free, fruit-based soft-serves

Froyo franchise firm plans for the future

Troy Bingham, MD of Froyo Robotics, said the brand acquisition and licensing agreement will give the business a distinct advantage in the marketplace.

“When the opportunity came up to acquire the Lumi brand and enter into the exclusive license arrangement, it was a natural progression for us,” he said.

“To be able to control the entire supply chain from manufacture to consumer makes sense, it is the way business is moving. The combination of Lumi’s proprietary product, with Froyo Robotics unattended retail solutions, will be unique in the marketplace.”

The deal with Perfect Fruit Company (a subsidiary of Coca- Cola Amatil) covers all Lumi self-serve machines already operating in restaurants, convenience, hospitals, theme parks, entertainment centres and universities.

Bingham intends to extend the branded soft-serve product offer into schools, airports, malls and expand further into the hospital, university and retail sectors.

Overseas expansion is also on the cards.

Looking ahead, Bingham plans to develop complementary products such as smoothies, shakes, slushies and hard pack ice cream tubs using the same brand and non-dairy focus.
