Entertainment on wheels: Games2U’s new model

Can you build a business out of mobile video game parties with giant inflatable balls? Well, Australia’s mobile entertainment company Games2u has sold four franchises in 12 months, including its first interstate location in Adelaide.

Sydney based franchisor Wayne McNiece says “We now have five Games2u units: Macarthur, The Shire, Nepean, Central Coast and our first interstate franchise Adelaide.”

Franchisee Peter Convy, who runs the Central Coast business explains what attracted him to the brand.

“Games2u fills a gap in the market by offering unique experiences and a personalised touch within the ever growing video game and entertainment industry.

“I believe that in order to be successful in business you need to do something you’re passionate about, so purchasing a Games2u franchise seemed like a perfect fit. It allows me to work in an industry that I’m passionate about and become my own boss at the same time.”

NEW MODEL

McNiece says development is underway on an entertainment package to suit smaller cities and regional areas. The new model will service a territory from 30,000 people to 150,000 people instead of the 400,000 people catered for in the standard offering.

The trailer is about half the size, but still seats 20. A standard package costs about $135,000 but the smaller model will cost a franchisee about $100,000.

Franchisees can operate the business on a part time or full time basis, says McNiece.

The next targets for expansion are the Melbourne and Brisbane markets.
