Franchise expo a chance to learn more

Sarah Stowe

A franchise expo is the perfect opportunity to find out more about franchising’s benefits and risks.

Event director Tim Collett runs the upcoming Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo. The event has been running for more than 30 years and has given thousands of everyday Australians the chance to get into their own business.

“The parliamentary inquiry has been a wake-up call for the industry and uncovered some very poor practices. But it does not change the fact that people want to work for themselves and sharing good business models makes perfect sense. There are many good franchise concepts out there and the industry has a bright future,” he said.

Collett added “The Franchising Expo is independent and gives consumers the chance to learn more about small business options, speak with a range of operators, talk to government agencies and ask the hard questions.

“There is no hard sell. I urge people to use the event as part of their due-diligence before getting into any business”.

Franchise expo brands

The show will feature more than 100 exhibitors including:

  • Poolwerx
  • Walker’s Doughnuts
  • Zarraffa’s Coffee

  • Speed Queen Laundry
  • Baskin-Robbins
  • The Graffiti Eaters

There are a host of business concepts that are fresh to Australia including home grown and international businesses.

Franchise expo seminars

Free seminars will help visitors to understand the difference between franchises, finding a business that matches your skills, success strategies and pitfalls to avoid. There will be inspiring stories by Andrew Morello from Yellow Brick Road and Snap Franchising CEO Peter Sinodinos.

Find out what you need to know before you buy at the ‘Myth Busters – how to spot the fake facts in franchising’ seminar. The session is hosted by Sarah Stowe, editor of Inside Franchise Business and Kate Groom, Franchise Accounting and Tax.

Collett said prospective franchisees are bound to have plenty of questions about the franchise sector.

“It’s understandable that many people have questions about the franchising model and that’s a good thing,” he said. “At the expo you can meet the people behind the brands, talk to existing franchisees and learn a whole lot more about working for yourself.”
