Five Guzman y Gomez drive-thru stores available

There are five Guzman y Gomez drive-thru outlets available for entrepreneurs who want a business along the east-coast of Australia.

After opening 23 restaurants in the home market since 2020, the chain has announced opportunities in Hervey Bay, Port Macquarie, Mackay, Cairns and Tamworth.

More than 30 new restaurants are planned over the next 12 months.

The five drive-thru stores will be opening between August 2021 and July 2022.

After opening in Newtown in 2006, GYG now has more than 150 restaurants across Australia, Singapore, Japan and the US.

GYG founder and CEO Steven Marks said, “Usually we have franchisees on a waitlist for two years or more before we make locations available. I’m really proud to make these five restaurants available to young entrepreneurs wanting to make their mark on the world.

“Seeing our current franchisees build their businesses, growing their teams and watching them succeed is what drives us.”

Just last week the popular Mexican chain revealed some of Australia’s top athletes were part of an investment syndicate that bought into the chain last in 2020. Among the champions backing GYG are Wallaby captain Michael Hooper and NBA Cleveland Cavalier and Australian Boomer, Matt Dellavedova.

The Mexican food business provides menu options for breakfast, lunch and dinner with burritos, bowls, nachos, tacos and fries.

And last year GYG showed it has a taste for value items, introducing $3 tacos at the start of Australia’s Covid lockdown, $9.90 quesadillas (with guacamole included) and $2 coffee.
