Domino’s Southport recognised for speedy service

Domino’s Southport, which is owned by franchisee Danny Maher, has broken the company’s Australian record for perfect pick up service.

The store achieved perfect pick up service for 33 consecutive days ending on Tuesday, 18 June after it successfully presented customers with their pizzas within the targeted time.

Perfect pick up service requires:

  • Staff allow two minutes to take the customer’s order
  • The pizza takes no more than three minutes to make
  • The pizza spends no more than seven minutes in the oven

Store manager Ash Downs has played an integral role in driving the store’s success since he came onboard in March.

In a matter of months he has both improved the store’s pick up score and increased sales by double digit figures.

“I’ve been working in Domino’s stores for over 10 years and always try and give my team goals to work towards.

“It all comes down to positive store culture – we have had no new staff, we’ve just shifted our attitudes and are all working together to achieve this great result as a team,” he said.

Downs aims to lead by example in the hope his staff will similarly develop a positive, hard-working attitude.

“I try to set an example and know that eventually my team will emulate what they see me doing,” he said.

Don Meij, CEO, Domino’s said the result has seen the store develop a reputation within the Domino’s community.

“The Southport store has become famous within our Australian store community and their positive story is set to become a leading example to not only all Domino’s store, but all small businesses.”

He added the Southport store’s relationship with the neighbouring Domino’s store in Biggera Waters is a competitive albeit positive one.

“Domino’s Biggera Waters, who are usually very competitive with Southport, have been sending them gifts congratulating them on their achievements – I’ve never seen this type of behaviour in my whole business career!

“The culture we have seen in these two Gold Coast based stores is the best I have ever seen in the business.”

All in all Meij said he was incredibly impressed by the result. “To not only break the record for perfect scores, but also double digit sales growth is just ground-breaking and I look forward to seeing what Ash and the team achieves at Domino’s Southport in the future.”
