Bridgestone drives fundraising

ifbadmin

Major Australian tyre retailer and franchise chain Bridgestone is driving a new fundraising initiative with long-term charity partner the Leukaemia Foundation.

The funds raised from a $2 donation for every Turanza Serenity Plus tyre sold at participating Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centres will go directly to the provision of transport services for people living with blood cancer, as well as research towards finding a cure and providing accommodation for those going through treatment.

Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centre franchisees’ Leukaemia Foundation contribution will be bolstered by Bridgestone’s corporate support of the organisation.

Bridgestone fundraising initiatives

The tyre brand’s partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation has been extended by three years and is one of the mainstays of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, spanning more than 33 years.

Over that time, Bridgestone and its franchise network have funded or contributed to many of the Leukaemia Foundation’s core initiatives. These include accommodation services near major cancer treatment hospitals, transport services to and from appointments, vital research and supported the Light the Night, Aussie Muscle Car Run and World’s Greatest Shave events through volunteering, participation and fundraising.

Bridgestone Australia & New Zealand managing director Stephen Roche said “We’re delighted to extend our partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation and continue our support for the vital services the organisation provides to people living with blood cancer, as well as their families.”

The tyre firm’s global commitment to corporate social responsibility, known as ‘Our Way to Serve’, is built around three priority areas: supporting people, enhancing mobility and environmental stewardship.

“Our commitment to the Leukaemia Foundation is very much about supporting the community, and for people living with blood cancer, assisting their mobility through the provision of transport services to treatment,” Roche added

Leukaemia Foundation CEO, Bill Petch, said  Bridgestone’s contribution will ensure the Leukaemia Foundation can continue to support those living with blood cancer.

“As we acknowledge and support Blood Cancer Awareness Month throughout September, we know that blood cancer diagnoses are on the rise, with more than 100,000 people living with a blood cancer in Australia today, and nearly 5,000 Australians expected to lose their life to blood cancer this year.

“Now more than ever, the Australian community’s awareness and support for people living with blood cancer is just so important. With the funds from this Bridgestone initiative, we can ensure we’re there for families as their loved ones make their way through blood cancer treatment, and we can continue our quest to fund life-saving blood cancer research.”
