Franchising expo: a brilliant hunting ground for enterprising Aussies

Sarah Stowe

Entrepreneurs and small business owners all start their dynamic careers with a great idea. It might be an original concept but sometimes the idea is already a fully-fledged business.

Think of the McDonalds brothers and their hard-working burger store. It was entrepreneur Ray Kroc who saw the potential to scale the business. He streamlined processes that kickstarted what is today a global megabrand.

It’s all about knowing how to optimise the benefits of a brilliant concept which can deliver a solution for the customer and profits for the business owner.

The Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is a well-established conduit for ambitious would-be business owners to meet franchisors face-to-face.

It is the perfect location to kickstart a franchise journey. It is also a chance to follow-up with key brands or all-important advisors before making that final buying decision.

Franchising expo is first step to business ownership

The expo acts as a convenient one-stop-shop for the franchise buyer. Franchisors, franchisees, legal and financial professionals and industry bodies will all participate at the Sydney 2023 franchising expo.

“If you’re considering buying a franchise it is important to harness all the resources online and do plenty of research on different sectors and brands. But the beauty of an expo is meeting real people who can explain the ins and outs of their business venture,” says Fiona Stacey, exhibition manager.

The upcoming event features more than 100 exhibitors. The retail, food, fitness, home or business services, education, logistics and accommodation sectors are all represented.

There is an impressive line-up of brands participating. A brilliant line-up of exhibitors includes food and beverage favourites Chicken Treat, Gong Cha, Gotcha Fresh Tea, Jamaica Blue, Milksha, Muffin Break, Ogalo, Oporto, Rashays, Red Rooster, Sushi Sushi and Top Juice.

Amber, Bedshed, Fully Promoted, Kwik Kopy, Mail Boxes Etc, Pack & Send, Poolwerx, and Signarama are among the retail and shopfront services showcased.

Looking for something more mobile? ANZ Mobile Lending, Appliance Tagging Services, CouriersPlease, DeckSeal, Houseproud Cleaning, Jim’s Mowing, Kitset Assembly and Plumbing Bros reflect the diversity of opportunities.

Expense Reduction Analysts, Express Employment Professionals, Frontline Recruitment, Kumon and Tax Assist Direct are also exhibiting.

Enterprising business owners are always on the lookout for the newest, hottest opportunity. Step up Fuwa Fuwa, the fluffy American pancakes brand. And also at this expo the Taiwan pavilion hosts an array of franchise brands keen to enter the Australian market.

Free daily seminars

The 2023 Sydney franchising expo provides brilliant resources for diligent visitors. Check out the daily program of free events at the Optus Seminar Theatre. Session topics include conversations with franchisees, is franchising right for you, what makes a winning franchisee, and essential money facts.

High profile business owner Rami Ykmour, the founder of casual dining chain Rashays, will talk about how to choose the right franchise.

Bill McGowan, who in 1983 founded Fastway Couriers (now Aramex), will share insights from his new book Be Your Own Boss.

Franchise buyers can also access an exclusive, ticketed Start Your Own Business Workshop with sessions to help them navigate practical start-up elements. The two-hour sessions cover aspects such as business registration, legal and council requirements, insurance, market research and creating a business plan.

Tickets for the workshop are $25 and include entry to the 2023 Sydney franchising expo.

The two-day event is held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. The ICC is easily accessible by public transport including light rail, ferry and train. It is just a 10-minute walk from Central and Town Hall train stations. Secure parking is located nearby.

Visitors to the Sydney Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo will enjoy a jam-packed event on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 August, 2023, open from 10am to 5pm daily.

“Whether you are an experienced small business owner or just thinking about a new start, you will find everything you need to start or grow a business here,” says Fiona.
