You could buy a UFC Gym franchise in QLD, ACT and NSW

UFC Gym Australia is set for national growth on the east coast, with two outlets to open in Melbourne, one in Canberra, and two to three planned for Sydney.

“We are focused on the east coast,” said Maz Hagemrad, CEO.

While Brisbane franchises are underway, there are plans for the health club to expand across metropolitan and regional areas including Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra.

“Quality candidates cannot be overlooked,” he said, as Canberra was originally not part of the expansion plan.

Hagemrad says the key value proposition provided by UFC is its fully developed youth mixed martial arts (MMA) program, allowing for membership for children five and older and parents to manage health and fitness and getting the kids involved.

“(UFC is) the only brand that has a structured youth program,” said Hagemrad.

“Our clubs aren’t laden with equipment.”

The initial cost of investment is $400,000 to $700,000, which includes sites with portions for equipment, cardio, functional training, the octagon and martial arts.

Franchisees are provided marketing support from the US head office, social media support from the Sydney head office, and a consultant visiting monthly/bi monthly. Hagemrad highlights that although head office will support the franchises from signing to securing the site, the model is designed to empower franchisees to take leadership and drive profits. Together with the model, the UFC brand is over 20 years old.

“We’ve got that brand equity,” said Hagemrad.

He adds that ideal franchisees have a basic understanding of business, some idea of the fitness industry, but more importantly a real passion and “feel for the brand.”
