Optus concentrates on home-brand retail and drops Allphones

The Optus telco business is streamlining its retail and online presence and focusing on its own-branded stores as the major retail channel for mobile distribution.

Third-party dealer Allphones has been ditched by Optus, Australia’s second largest telecoms business, according to SmartCompany. This reportedly comes after Optus closed off deals with distributors Telechoice and BoostMobile.

In at statement Optus said it will refocus its retail distribution “to better reflect the maturing mobile market and changing consumer needs.”

“Rationalising” some of its third party distribution channels is part of this process.
