Franchising network Gloria Jean’s Coffees is supporting Jeans for Genes Day with exclusive Denim-strating Coffee 101 workshops at its cafes over the next two weeks, teaching guests the differences between coffee varieties, where they are sourced, the art and science behind tasting coffee and how to make a great plunger coffee.

All proceeds will be going to Jeans for Genes and Gloria Jean’s Coffees is encouraging people to wear their jeans, enjoy a fun and informative session and take home some great knowledge and giveaways.

Gloria Jean’s Coffees was the leading retail fundraiser for Jeans for Genes in 2008, raising over $90,000 for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, and has now raised a total of $470,000 since it first began supporting the charity seven years ago.

Melissa Nassif, Jeans for Genes campaign coordinator said, “As a not-for-profit organisation, the Children’s Medical Research Institute heavily relies on sponsorship and donations. Gloria Jean’s Coffees Denim-strating Coffee 101 is one important initiative that is helping us work towards trying to prevent genetic diseases before they occur in children or, where that is not possible, to develop better treatments.”

Gloria Jean’s Coffees Denim-strating Coffee 101 sessions are open to all members of the community for a small registration fee of $20 with all proceeds going to Jeans for Genes. Additionally Jeans for Genes merchandise is available at Gloria Jean’s Coffees 489 coffee houses.
