The Brisbane skyline is set to change dramatically, with an announcement the world’s largest hotel franchisor is plotting an Aussie-first. When it opens in September 2021, the new Wyndham Garden Suites Spring Hill location will mark the debut of the chain’s new format hotels Down Under.

Wyndham Garden Suites is an emerging brand under the global accommodation giant’s banner, with the latest Australian expansion following successful growth in Asia. A focus on corporate high-end travellers has delivered strong market share, and with Brisbane fast-becoming an international hub, the timing couldn’t be better.

Joon Aun Ooi, president and managing director of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, South-East Asia and Pacific Rim said the new Wyndham Garden Suites concept had multi-functional appeal.

“We are thrilled to debut Wyndham Garden – one of our fastest growing brands – in one of Wyndham’s most important markets,” Aun Ooi said.

“Brisbane’s tourism industry is booming (with visitor expenditure surging 10 percent in the year ending March 2019, including an impressive 15 percent jump in international revenues), making this the perfect time to add our third brand in the city.”

Wyndham Garden Suites Spring Hill

Located in the thriving inner city hub of Spring Hill, the inaugural Wyndham Garden Suites tower will deliver 120 new rooms, offering guests a variety of suite options and experiences.

Housed within the new accommodation complex will be a swimming pool, fully equipped fitness centre, onsite restaurant and for corporate guests, two meeting rooms available for use.

While the new Wyndham Garden Suites Spring Hill site marks the brand’s first foray into Australia, the chain has already rolled out 116 hotels across the globe, including offerings in the US, Europe an China.

Like many of its international counterparts, Wyndham Garden Suites Spring Hill will operate under a franchise agreement between Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and new owner, Image Developments.

“We are proud to partner with Wyndham for this exciting new project as we introduce the Wyndham Garden brand to Australia for the first time,” Rupert Yang, director of Image Developments said.

“This modern concept is perfectly suited to Brisbane, and especially the vibrant Brisbane CBD fringe district of Spring Hill. I look forward to working with Wyndham to bring this new brand concept to life in a truly alluring destination.”

The brand moving forward

With over 9200 hotels across more than 80 countries, the Wyndham group is a global accommodation behemoth. Here in Australia, the company operates a portfolio of 35 hotels across four brands, primarily located in key business and leisure destinations.

The new Wyndham Garden Suites concept is likely to follow a similar expansion journey. Aun Ooi said that while the Spring Hill site is a priority, the company is already looking to expand its domestic footprint.

“The launch of Wyndham Garden will give even more options to domestic and international guests travelling to Australia and we look forward to expanding to even more destinations nationwide,” Aun Ooi said.

The new 13 storey luxury Wyndham Garden Suites Spring Hill hotel is located at 24 & 30 Hartley Street and 30 & 32 McConnell Street and is set to open in September 2021.
