Urban Clean’s flexible business model expanding to US

Sarah Stowe

An Urban Clean franchise can be started as a part-time after hours business, ideal for anyone wanting to continue their day time career or transition gradually from a job to operating a business full-time.

Founder Damien Boehm told Inside Franchise Business, included in the franchise is an initial set up of $5,000+GST per month worth of cleaning contract revenue.

“Franchisees who join our system at the full investment of $31,700+GST also receive a cleaning contract guarantee and warranty.”

Typically clients come from the following locations:

  • Offices
  • Medical centres
  • Showrooms
  • Industrial sites and warehouses
  • Schools and educational facilities
  • Childcare centres
  • Gyms and indoor sporting facilities
  • Strata buildings

The business began in 2009 and has been franchising since 2014. Now, with more than 100 franchises across Australia, Urban Clean is expanding big time, with a US launch planned for September.

GM Kirk Simpson will be heading this up, with master franchise opportunities in other US states. Urban Clean has a different premise to the commercial and janitorial franchise format that began in the US, says Damien.

“We bring a different, fresh approach – a new take to an old model that focuses on equipping franchise partners to take full control of their business, and to determine the size they want their business to become.

“To date, a number of US commercial cleaning franchise brands have been imported into Australia. We see potential for an Australian brand such as Urban Clean now to become a leading commercial cleaning franchise and a strong alternative to other options already available in the US market.”
