The Top 30 Franchise Executive of the Year 2020 report will be hot off the presses in February, released at a launch event in Melbourne where the 30 high-performing individuals will be revealed.

Inside Franchise Business Executive’s inaugural ranking in 2019 sparked excitement and pride in the sector as an indicator of the brilliant talent in Australian franchising.

Who will be in this year’s list?

As excitement mounts to discover just which of the many top performers across the franchise sector have made it into the coveted listing in 2020, Inside Franchise Business is taking a look back at some of the winners from last year.

One of the top five 2019 Top 30 Franchise Executives, Jason Smith, the founder of Back In Motion physiotherapy group, impressed judges with his handling of a tumultuous period of change. Smith had a sensational year successfully navigating through organisational change on a massive scale.

In a podcast interview he revealed what he learned about himself in the process and why a sense of social corporate responsibility is in his business DNA. He talks about why a philanthropic approach has always been important to him, and how it shapes up in reality across the network.

Smith also talked about his leadership style and why he calls himself an “accidental CEO”.

Leadership is just one of six categories on which Top 30 Franchise Executives are evaluated; innovation is another. In this podcast find out how Smith has stayed ahead of the game in technological developments, and how he weighs up the pros and cons of business ideas. Decisive leadership and integrity are just two of the elements he believes account for his success.

Franchisee success is of course central to Back In Motion, and it is core to the Top 30 Franchise Executives.

We’re just weeks away from revealing the next line-up of high achieving franchise executives on Tuesday 25 February in Melbourne.
