The Sporting Globe Bar & Grill has just opened its fifth venue and second franchise at Watergardens Shopping Centre, Taylors Lakes. The business has ambitious growth plans in 2015, including its first venues outside of Victoria.

Brad Dekkers was recently appointed as franchise development manager to the business. He was previously in franchising consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“I spent over three years working in PwC’s franchise practice, which gave me exposure to a broad range of franchise businesses from small start-ups through to ASX200 companies”, notes Dekkers. “That experience has provided me with a fantastic base of knowledge and experience that I can bring to The Sporting Globe as we look to ramp up recruitment of franchisees.

“Our franchisees don’t need a lot of experience, they just need to be great leaders have drive to succeed” says Dekkers. “Our franchise model covers a lot of the administration for the franchisee, so they can spend more time focusing on what is most important – happy customers and motivated employees.”

The Sporting Globe offers a high quality food and beverage product, combined with a state of the art sports entertainment fit out.

“For a sports loving nation like ours, we deserve a place to watch our favourite sport in a family friendly and social environment,” says director James Sinclair. “In the past, people associated sports bars in Australia with a dingy pokies venue, and we are determined to change that perception by delivering a contemporary and high quality offering, one Sporting Globe at a time.”

Sinclair notes that the investment required for a Sporting Globe Franchise can range from $750,000 to $1.5m depending on the size and location of the site. “We appreciate that it can be a significant investment for people, and we expect and welcome franchisees operating a partnership structure in our model”.
