The best decision we made

Sarah Stowe

Tammy Weir, Cartridge World franchisee at Browns Plains, Queensland

What spurred you to invest in your franchise? My husband has always wanted to own his own business but coming from the police force he did not have a trade behind him, and we considered the best option for us was to look into a franchise as there are systems and a business model already in place and a support network that you can call on for help. Cartridge World really appealed as we could see the potential of the industry.

What has been the most rewarding part of running this franchise? The most rewarding part has been watching the business grow from day one and it has just been increasing each year. We have been a part of the franchise for eight years now and have developed some very good relationships with customers. We have won the Quest Business Achievers Awards three years running and are now in the Business Achievers Hall of Fame, which shows the support from the customers in our area.

The other rewarding part is the lifestyle it has provided us with.

How has the franchise affected your home life? The business has really changed our lifestyle. We started a family after investing in the business and it has allowed me to stay at home with my children and do paperwork and manage most issues over the phone. As long as you have a competent and trustworthy manager to run the store, you can step back from the day-to-day running of the shop.

We can also take holidays knowing that we can still earn an income and don’t need to shut the doors to our business.

Sell us this franchiseÉ This franchise is really suited to a wide range of people and anyone can do it – it really comes down to how much you are prepared to put in as to how much you can get out of it. Buying into Cartridge World really has been the best decision we ever made and we are reaping the rewards every day.

Being part of a group like this also gives you the technical support you need when trying to keep up with the fast pace of new technology. Each time a new cartridge comes out we are provided with the ink specifications and techniques required to refill the cartridge and with the chip technology in today’s cartridges we couldn’t do what we do without the support within the system.
