Tailor your café to your needs, as a Coffee Emporium franchise partner

Whether your ideal franchise is a full-service licensed restaurant, a basic ‘grab and go’, or something in between, The Coffee Emporium has the perfect fit.

“I think we’re unique in offering so many flexible options – not only in terms of size but also location,” says group general manager Greg Erickson.

This commitment to flexibility led The Coffee Emporium to turn conventional recruitment on its head.

“Rather than offering locations to ‘would-be’ franchise partners, we start by finding the right people,” Mr Erickson explains. “We then help them to find their perfect site, usually within 15 kilometres of their home because people typically want to operate in their local community. We then secure them a site and negotiate a great rental.”

A five-tiered system

Potential franchise partners have five different types of outlet to choose from, and menus are ‘tiered to suit’.

“All have the look of traditional European coffee houses to help guests feel welcome and relaxed – but however simple, each one provides a premium offering,” Mr Erickson says. “Everything from the menu to the atmosphere and the service, reflects our commitment to exceptional quality and value.”

The tier structure allows franchise partners to build their new business within their capabilities, however it also allows them an opportunity to expand their business if they decide that’s what they’d like to do.

The menu is influenced by the size of the location and, broadly, these are the available options.

Breakfast and lunch menus

  • A grab and go, or ‘hole in the wall’ serves beverages such as coffee, tea, shakes and smoothies with cakes, croissant, toasties and wraps.
  • A small kiosk adds things like all-day breakfasts, pancakes, bacon and eggs, omelette, acai bowls, burgers, salmon, fries and a kids’ menu.
  • A large kiosk, or small inline commercial store front, adds Big Brekkie, Eggs Bennie, corn fritters, waffles, steak sandwich, fish and chips.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus

  • A large inline store also offers dinner dishes such as grilled chicken and linguine.
  • A restaurant/bar offers the full range, including entrées, mains and desserts, and is also licensed to serve alcohol.

“We’re constantly looking at new ways to support our franchise partners,” Mr Erickson adds. “For example, we’re now offer a raft of home delivery options, online ordering and pick up, as well as rewards and incentives for loyal customers.”

New opportunities

Today, customers are enjoying The Coffee Emporium experience at 38 Australian locations. Soon there will be many more.

“Our existing cafes are well-established and the worst of Covid-19 appears to be behind us, so it’s time to expand again,” Mr Erickson says. “We have aggressive growth plans along the Eastern Seaboard, with a core focus in NSW. Regional NSW is of great interest to us including the far north and south coasts, Canberra and west beyond the Blue Mountains. Rents and landlord incentives are very reasonable in these areas, and now is a great opportunity for new people to join our team.”

Over the past 30 years The Coffee Emporium has built an impressive reputation for excellence in coffee, food and guest experience in Australia, as well as internationally. “Franchise partners are at the heart of our success and now we’re looking for like-minded people who share our values of honesty, integrity and accountability……………………..oh, and we like to have a bit of fun too” Mr Erickson adds.

Why choose The Coffee Emporium?

The Coffee Emporium makes it much easier and less stressful to start a business than if you were doing it on your own.

“We provide a full turnkey solution that includes comprehensive training so you’ll have the confidence and resources to serve guests from day one,” Mr Erickson says. “Your success is our success, so it makes sense for us to focus on helping our franchise partners to build a great business.”

New recruits complete a five-week structured program at the company’s training facilities in Sydney, as well as ‘in store’ which covers areas such as human resources, finance, operations, sales, marketing, food safety and work health and safety.

“From there, you’ll always have access to as much support as you need,” Mr Erickson says. “And, of course, you’ll always have the advantage of a strong brand, our multi-award-winning signature coffee and an ever changing ‘on trend’ menu.”

Franchise partners also benefit by having a highly-experienced leadership team. “All of our directors and executives have a deep understanding of the espresso / beverage market, the quick service restaurant (QSR) sector and the hospitality industry, both in Australia and overseas,” Mr Erickson says. “This puts us in a perfect position to operate efficiently and adapt quickly to any changes in the market.”
