Sydney expo showcases new names

Sarah Stowe

Sunshine brought out the crowds for the Sydney Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo at Darling Harbour, with visitors flocking to the venue on the lookout for the latest opportunities.

This career-changing event (franchisee Ann King who shared her experiences on a franchisee success panel found her First Class Accounts business at the expo) showcased some familiar names as well as some brand new concepts to tempt potential franchisees.

Whether visitors were searching for retail investments with the likes of Howards Storage World, Movenpick or Pack & Send, or for mobile opportunities such as Jim’s Diggers, Mobile SKips or Appliance Tagging Services, the 80 plus exhibitors spanned all budgets and all interests.

THE NEWBIES

Some of the brands new to the franchising scene:

  • beauty salon Luminiere with its focus on anti-ageing and results-based treatments
  • Paleo Cafe which promotes an ancient Paleo diet
  • slow cooked barbecue mobile business Smokin Barrys
  • Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks, a new Asian cuisine takeaway model
  • Brisbane based 5 Dogs Gourmet Hot Dogs cafe
  • Lean Mumma, fitness classes for new mothers

There was plenty of tasting going on with the new trend yogurt chains Noggi and Crave, ice cream brand Movenpick, patisserie and bakery Taste of Europe, and the Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks among the exhibitors product sampling.

Potential franchisees were seeking advice and information too, with the free seminar program well-attended over all three days.
