SpeedFit targets east coast for expansion

Sarah Stowe

Personal training brand SpeedFit is firing up for east coast expansion and has launched in North Adelaide, South Australia.

At the helm of the first South Australian studio, Munira Hassan has spent 15 years working in the health space. She moved to Australia in 2017 with her husband and two children.

“I first got in touch with [founder] Matej Varhalik in 2018, he was very transparent and honest when discussing the business partnership, he told me all the ups and downs and he never hid anything. I had spoken to other EMS companies, but Matej was very different, he knows we are both responsible for the success of the studio and we are working together.

“My husband and I drove 18 hours from Adelaide to North Sydney to try it out. I suffer from sciatica. After my session, I woke up the next day with no pain at all, so after that point I wasn’t just 100 per cent sure I had made the right decision, I was 180 per cent sure!”

What is SpeedFit?

SpeedFit was launched in Australia in 2013 by Matej and Zuzana Varhalik and began franchising in 2017.

It’s a controlled fitness option providing an intense workout in a short time. Clients are wired up to electro magnetic stimulation technology to achieve results with minimal effort.

The Perth-based fitness chain last year saw growth of 127 per cent year on year. Ten new studios were opened across Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and the New South Wales Central Coast.

SpeedFit drives growth

In a move to elevate the brand, late last year Matej appointed a head of training. Former F45 chief athletic officer, Nathan Mageropoulos, took up the newly created role.

SpeedFit also recently appointed a general manager of operations to drive national expansion, with a particular focus on the eastern seaboard.

The new appointee, Craig Pritchard, who will initially support and develop the Victorian network, also has a focus on compliance.

He will also work with the team to set up SpeedFit as an NDIS provider.

Craig said “I’m excited to join SpeedFit at this time because I love the close-knit family feel of a small franchise system, and I believe it is poised for strong growth, particularly in the eastern states. I am really looking forward to working alongside Matej and the team to help take the business to the next level.”
