“We’re always expanding but making sure we find the best locations,” said Marty Buttigieg, director, store development.

“More regional locations are certainly within our sights,” he added.

Buttigieg said that regional sites would require a population of about 60,000.

The chocolate cafŽ is already opening new franchises in Harbour Town and Tweed (Gold Coast) this year and Chadstone (Victoria) in the next three to four months.

The initial investment cost of a Chocolateria San Churro franchise starts at $500,000 and includes full marketing (local and national) and business development support.

Buttigieg said that the model’s comprehensive training and processes mean that potential franchisees require the motivation and commitment to own a business.

San Churro celebrated its 10 year anniversary this year since opening in March 2006 and redesigned its branding.
