Zambrero gives back

Sarah Stowe

Restaurant franchise Zambrero revealed that thanks to its customers, it has hit the 20 million mark of meals donated to those in need.

To date, through its global Plate 4 Plate initiative, Zambrero has helped over 57 countries, delivering over 70 shipping containers worth of food including 907 tonnes of rice.

Encouraging Mexican and healthy food lovers to “eat to beat world hunger”, Zambrero’s popularity as a fast-casual offering continues to grow.

Zambrero founder, Sam Prince, said, “Plate 4 Plate is Zambrero’s reason for being. Not only do we want to ensure we provide a great offering for our customers -we believe that we have a responsibility to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.”

Meals for those in need are donated via Zambrero’s distribution partners Rise Against Hunger (formerly known as Stop Hunger Now) and Foodbank, both hunger relief agencies.

Rise Against Hunger packs and distributes food to countries where many do not have access to adequate nutrition, primarily through school feeding programs. Meals consist of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a fortified vitamin/mineral mix specially designed to supplement the diet of malnourished individuals.

Considerable contributions have been made through Zambero’s yearly Meal Packing days
