Solar energy company, Zen Energy Systems, is the highest ranked franchise on BRW‘s Fast 100 List, which was announced last night.

The list ranks small and medium established businesses in terms of the average annual revenue growth in the three years to 2011-12.

First place went to telecommunications company Time Telecom, with a revenue of $51.13m and growth of 375.21 percent. Coming in at second was SCO Recruitment ($14.42m, 266.36 percent growth) and in third was Laser Clinics Australia ($20.10m, 246.68 percent growth).

After not making the list last year, Zen Energy Systems, a renewable technology brand established in 2004, has taken out fourth place on this year’s list, and was the first placed franchise system. Its turnover was $77.3m with 228.76 percent growth.

Closely behind Zen is Jetts Fitness in fifth place, a drop from its second place ranking last year. This year, the 24/7 gym franchise posted revenue of $66.17m and growth of 212.59 percent.

It’s been an exciting couple of months for Jetts Fitness, which just last month came 26th (the number one franchise, however) in the SmartCompany Top 50 awards, which also recognises SMEs based on revenue growth over three financial years.

Jetts Group managing director, Adrian McFedries said the strong ranking was a testament to the consistency the group has applied to its 53 club openings over the past twelve months – with an average of 50 per year for the past three years.

“Throughout this incredible period of growth, each club opening has been underpinned by the Jetts commitment to maintaining the same high standard of operation, as well as member and franchisee satisfaction.

“We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional member experience with a clean, safe gym environment and a strong, supportive community – this is the key to the group’s success,” he said.

The next franchise on the Fast 100 list is Smith & Sons Renovations and Extensions, which came in at 30th with $29.49m revenue and 95.32 percent growth.

Smith & Sons, along with the two other franchise systems (Plus Fitness at 46th and the Keen to Clean group at 88th) made the list without ranking at all last year.
