Warren Wilmot, the former 7-Eleven Australia CEO, has been appointed to the chief executive role at South Australian convenience chain On The Run (OTR).

It is three years since Wilmot resigned from the then-troubled 7-Eleven chain, after 13 years as its CEO. Previously he had spent more than 10 years in various management roles with the Pizza Hut Group.

“It’s a privilege to join such a strong and innovative company with a proud South Australian history of investment and providing employment to the community,” said Wilmot.

“I look forward to building on this success with the broader OTR team and making life easier for customers by providing high quality service, food offers and convenience, together with new levels of innovation and ways to engage with our brand,” he added.

The CEO appointment creates a new role for OTR, which is part of the South Australian-owned Peregrine Corporation.

The family owned convenience store business now has 135 outlets across the State and partners with franchise brands such as Brumby’s Bakeries, Guzman Y Gomez, Oporto, Subway and Wokinabox in multi-branded convenience offers.

Peregrine’s executive chairman, Yasser Shahin, said “OTR has grown significantly over the past 20 years and the timing is right to appoint a leader and executive team dedicated specifically to OTR’s expanding operations.

“Warren brings the perfect mix of experience and enthusiasm to help us take the business to another level,” he said.

Shahin will remain as executive chairman of Peregrine Corporation and focus on OTR’s growth and development program, together with Peregrine’s wholesale fuel and construction divisions.
