Lawn care goes green; the V.I.P. solar-powered trailer

ifbadmin

In the midst of technology evolution, one of the country’s most tenured franchise brands, V.I.P. has committed to prepping its partners for growth. In a ground-breaking move, the lawn care franchise has introduced a V.I.P. solar-powered trailer, helping to stamp out the brand’s environmental footprint.

The first V.I.P. solar-powered trailer has been specially adapted and fitted with solar panels and a power pack.

The high-tech fleet addition allows lawn and gardening power tools to be recharged fast, reducing downtime and pollution.

It hasn’t been a small undertaking however. What started out as a discussion with tool supplier Makita about their battery-powered range has evolved into a full-blown restructure.

Tim Banning, V.I.P. Lawns and Garden regional franchise manager for South Australia said the ability for franchisees to utilise battery-powered technology was a game-changer.

“The off-the-grid and camping crowd have been using solar-powered trailers for a while now but we believe we’re the first franchising company in Australia to utilise this technology. At V.I.P. we’re pretty excited about this — it’s a real win-win,” Banning said.

From a franchisee perspective, the V.I.P. solar-powered trailer and battery-powered additions improve efficiency and functionality. This in turn has the potential to greatly improve profitability and reduce job time.

“The new solar-powered trailers will mean reduced running costs and less downtime for our franchisees,” Banning said.

“The Makita power tools are easier to start and lighter than traditional lawn and gardening equipment so there’s less chance of muscle strains or fatigue. And of course, less pollution means a cleaner environment.”

South Australian franchisee, Allison Bunting was the first to receive a V.I.P. solar-powered trailer. The new owner said V.I.P.’s focus on future proofing its franchisees was a big reason why she was inspired to join the network.

“Gardening is something I’ve enjoyed my whole life,” Bunting said.

“For the past four years, I’ve been working for a V.I.P. franchisee and I was ready to get my own business. I only wanted a smaller trailer — this new solar-powered one has made it even more attractive so I’m rapt.”
