The Athlete’s Foot parent company snaps up more footwear brands

The parent company of franchise footwear chain The Athlete’s Foot, is adding Vans and Timberland distributor to its portfolio.

RCG Corporation is buying the Accent Group, which holds exclusive distribution across Australia and New Zealand for big name shoe brands including Vans, Timberland, Skechers and Dr Martens.Accent also owns The Platypus Shoe chain.

The expanded company will have 269 stores and 13 brand licences, Business Insider reports. According to SMH, the sale boosts group sales from $268m to $450m. 

RCG CEO Hilton Brett said in a statement “Accent is a significant and growing business. It will dramatically increase the scale and financial outcomes of RCG, standing the business in even beetter stead to face the challenges ahead.”

RCG is set to pay between $180m and $200m for the business.
