Swimart upgrades training system

Sarah Stowe

Swimart has introduced the Swimart Academy, a new training system that caters to both new and existing franchisees.

Under the Swimart Academy new franchisees can expect to undergo a 23-day training program as part of their business induction training, and ongoing courses will be available for franchisees and their staff.

Swimart’s Australasian manager, Chris Fitzmaurice, said ongoing professional development is essential for franchisees and their staff, as it enhances their ability to provide customers with the best possible service and advice.

“Owning a pool or spa entails a level of knowledge that takes time to learn,” he said.

“The better educated our franchisees are, the better they can serve their customers and anticipate their needs.”

The Swimart Academy courses can be completed online or in conjunction with one-on-one training.

The eLearning component comprises four different levels, all of which are designed to enhance the knowledge of franchisees and their staff.

E-LEARNING INCLUDES:

Basics courses

For individuals who have either recently entered the industry or those that wish to refresh their knowledge. They cover the different types of pools, spas, materials and construction.

There is also a water chemistry basics component, which looks at water chemistry, balancing and testing, along with basic calculations and chemical dosing.

Professional courses

Cover more advanced knowledge and skills and have subsequently been designed with experienced franchisees, pool technicians and senior team members in mind.

The Certified Technician Qualification features modules that cover contamination, water problems and disinfection, water chemistry, water circulation and filtration and maintenance issues.

The Master Technician Qualification also falls under this category. Here, the focus is on learning to prevent serious water borne illnesses such as gastrointestinal disorders, skin, ear, eye and respiratory illnesses and wounds.

Industry related courses

Produced by Swimart’s franchisor Waterco, these are exclusive to the Swimart brand. Courses that are currently available touch on water balance and chemical treatment.

Product related courses

Are designed to provide franchisees and their staff with in-depth information about a range of industry specific products.

Fitzmaurice said he believes the new and improved training system will benefit both existing and potential franchisees.

“It sets industry standards and encourages product knowledge excellence allowing franchisees to offer the best possible service to their customers.”
