Shingle Inn opens in ACT

Boutique cafe chain Shingle Inn has opened its first outlet in the nation’s capital, with the latest franchise launched last week at Westfield Belconnen with franchisee Karen Rae at the helm.

Rae, formerly of McDonald’s Yass for 14 years, said “I wanted to be part of Shingle Inn due to its family values, high quality products and my previous experiences with the brand which were all wonderful. The brand is growing and it’s great to be a part of that.”

Shingle Inn co-director Andrew Bellchambers is pleased with the brand’s expansion into the ACT.

“We’ve been interested in a Canberra store for some time,” said Bellchambers, “and with all Karen’s experience in a fast-paced food environment we knew she’d be a perfect fit as our first franchisee in this market.

“She’s taken a real interest in our heritage and the traditions of our brand and we fully support her as she introduces our decadent products and delicious coffee and food to Canberra.”

Those traditions date back to when Shingle Inn was first established in 1936 in Brisbane.  The concept is renowned for its iconic Patty Cakes, innovative cakes and an extensive freshly prepared lunch menu as well as the opulent surroundings in which to enjoy the deserved time-out including intimate plush booths and high-backed chairs.
