Sheds N Homes projects 47 new franchises nationally

Sarah Stowe

Sheds N Homes, a franchise division of Steelx Group, is on the lookout for franchisees. The business offers design, marketing and sale of steel kit buildings. Franchisees operate in a retail site and mobile vehicle. Inside Franchise Business: Sheds N Homes projects bullish growth.

“We currently have 33 franchises ,” said Richard Oster, franchise sales executive.

With an aim to turn the network total to 80, he adds, “we’re particularly interested in rural areas – that’s where the big sheds are and that’s where the money is.”

“We do very well in rural areas.”

The initial investment for a franchise is $45,000 – $95,000. Apart from the franchisor’s legal fees ($1750), Oster said “we don’t retain the franchise fee – we spend it all on the franchisee.”

The fee covers training (flights and accommodation), spending a week in another franchisee’s outlet, wrapping a vehicle in branding, retail fit out, etc.

Sheds N Homes is also a royalty-free model. Oster explained that the business makes money from buildings constructed.

So who is an ideal franchisee?

“The main requirement is the ability to deal with people,” he says.

Business experience is a bonus, and those who are builders have an advantage in that they can conduct building erection and concreting themselves (run as a separate business to the franchise).
