Shana Choi: passionate about hairdressing

Sarah Stowe

Shana Choi is an experienced hairdresser, and she’s recently taken her career to the next level by investing in a Franck Provost franchise in the Sydney suburb of Rozelle.

There are more than 650 Franck Provost salons in 30 countries across the world, and the French brand is looking to open 50 salons in Australia over the coming years.

Shana is one of its first Australian franchisees – there are currently sites in Bondi, Crows Nest, Double Bay, Manly, Mosman and the Sydney CBD, as well as Rozelle.

Tell us a little about your work life before becoming a franchisee. I have been in hairdressing for years where I’ve worked as a hair stylist, educator and salon coordinator.

What brought you to invest in a franchise? The support in areas including advertising, marketing, training and more.

Why did you choose this brand in particular? It has a great image and reputation.

What skills did you bring to the business? Definitely the hairdressing skills, as well as educational and management experiences.

What has been the biggest challenge as a franchisee in a new field? I had to overcome and face my fears in order to open the business.

How has the franchisor helped you gain confidence in your business? They have given me a new chance, a new opportunity to fulfil my dreams of becoming a professional business owner.

In addition, the training the franchisor provided was very helpful and I gained experience in every field required to set up a new salon.

What will you do with this business and new found skills? I hope to bring satisfaction to a range of customers on both a local and larger scale.

I also dream of expanding my salon to other areas and possibly increase my profit making potential.
