Regional growth for Choice Hotels

Sarah Stowe

Eleven properties have joined the Choice Hotels Australasia portfolio in the last year, with growth seen in the regional areas across New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.

In New South Wales, five hotels have been added to the group: 4 Star hotels the Comfort Inn Bushman’s in Parkes and Quality Suites Boulevard on Beaumont in Newcastle; and the 3 Star Econo Lodge Grafton, the Econo Lodge Albury Paddlesteamer and the 3 Star Econo Lodge Hideaway Armidale.

Expanding its Victorian offering, Choice Hotels has four new additions. In Geelong, the 4 Star Quality Hotel Bayside joined the group; the newly refurbished 3.5 Star Econo Lodge Statesman Ararat, the 3 Star Econo Lodge Parkville Place in Brunswick and the recently refurbished 3 Star Comfort Inn Mitchell on Main in Bairnsdale are also new recruits.

In Western Australia a 4 Star property, Quality Inn Margaret River, is now part of the Choice network.

Aileen Cobern, Choice’s general manager sales and marketing said, “Choice is continuing to grow at a rapid pace and we are delighted to have welcomed 11 new properties to the group this year. It’s a move that reflects Choice’s desire to significantly grow and expand its regional mid market sector offerings in order to benefit from the increased consumer demand for high quality, affordable accommodation.

“Choice Hotels is also again delighted to be a part of the Australian Tourism Exchange. It’s an extremely valuable showcase event for Australian tourism and one we are excited and proud to participate in,” said Cobern.
