Parliamentary inquiry report delayed

Sarah Stowe

If you’re waiting for the findings of the parliamentary inquiry into franchising, don’t hold your breath. The Senate will not release its report until early next year.

The announcement comes just one week after the highly publicised appearance of RFG former chief Tony Alford and two of his colleagues in front of the Senate comittee.

The original date for findings to be released was 30 September, a deadline then extended to 6 December to allow for further public hearings.

Yesterday the Senate set the date of 14 February 2019 to report on its inquiry into the operation and effectiveness of the Franchising Code of Conduct.

This new schedule could tip the release of the findings into pre-election territory, with uncertainty about the timing of the upcoming federal election.
