Franchise casual dining chain Outback Jack’s 1kg challenge grand final pitted the nation’s six fastest steak eaters against each other in a contest to find the national champion.

Each state winner turned up on 1 September to dig into a hefty 1kg steak, chips and vegies in the shortest time possible.

The challenge is a fundraising activity too, and the annual competition this year raised $10,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation which supports the families of sick children.
