Newtown the latest venue for Gelatissimo

Sweet treat franchise Gelatissimo has opened its doors to the Newtown store in Sydney with new franchisee Winston Ho at the helm.

Gelatissimo’s joint CEO Domenico Lopresti said the new gelateria is in a prime location opposite the Dendy theatre.

“We have always wanted to have a gelateria in Newtown as it has just the right mix of cafes and restaurants to creat a cool vibe during the day and vibrant night life,” said Lopresti.

Winston Ho, who previously worked in photographic development, said “Other areas that we investigated included Surry Hills, Balmain, Kirribilli and Lane Cove. We chose Newtown as it has a very strong strolling crowd presence with a wide and varied blend of cultures. It is an interesting strip with a variety of eateries and a mixture of retail offerings.”

Ho said the freshly made products at the core of Gelatissimo’s business, give the brand a competitive advantage.

“Newtown will be a challenging environment because there are existing gelato outlets where competition leads to a higher standard of service and product quality expectations from customers.

“And undoubtedly Gelatissimo will focus on superior offerings in both these categories.”
