New Zealand Nando’s master franchisee in liquidation

The Auckland based master franchisee of the Nando’s fast food chain in New Zealand has gone into liquidation but the franchisees are continuing to operate as normal.

Liquidators Rogers Reidy have been appointed to the Shivram business which is the master franchisee for the 30 plus restaurants across the country.

Shivram, which is directed and owned by Shailen Ramjee, got into trouble in November last year when the Heartland Bank appointed receivers Black and Johnstone, reports Business Day.

Heartland Bank was owed more than $1.58 million according to a Black and Johnstone report.

The report also indicated that Shivram had defaulted on royalty payments due to the master franchisor for Australasia, Nandos Australia.

However there are buyers in the pipeline, according to the receivers: “A number of offers to acquire the business have been received and the receivers are currently working to conclude the sales process.”
