Mum and daughter take on courier franchise in Launceston

Local mum and daughter team, Cindy and Zoe Holden, have been granted the right to operate Fastway CouriersÕ newest regional franchise in Launceston. The duo will operate two facilities (in Ulverstone and Launceston) totalling 1,400sqm and delivering more than 4,500 parcels each and every week. Commenting on the teamÕs decision to embark on this mammoth business venture and become part of the worldÕs largest courier franchise organisation, Cindy Holden says, “We were drawn to Fastway for the simple reason that their success has been built off the back of their ability to offer a true local service”. The 49 year old Shearwater resident added “In that I mean that regional and courier franchises are owned and operated by locals.”

CindyÕs 22 year old daughter and business partner, Zoe Holden, couldnÕt agree more. “This commitment from locals, to locals, has been the cornerstone of FastwayÕs success and having owned local businesses in the past, this really appealed us” says the well known member of the Devonport community. “In my opinion, thereÕs nobody that understands the real needs of a local business quite like a local.”

No strangers to the business environment, the Holdens have a combined 20 years business experience in Tasmania including owning and operating the kiosk and souvenir shop at Devonport Airport as well as a number of takeaway food outlets and service stations in both Shearwater and Devonport. Before their latest venture, Cindy and Zoe both spent over a year in the Fastway sales team. “Being a rep with Fastway before taking the plunge into the Launceston business was important to us” says Zoe. “It gave us a deep understanding of customer freight requirements and it also enabled us to interact personally with the type of customers we would be servicing in the future — call it market research if you like.”
