Software solutions franchise Micronet Systems has announced the acquisition of Queensland-based software company, Computerlink Australia. Under the deal Computerlink will be wholly owned by Micronet, although Computerlink will continue to operate as a separate entity, the two brands co-existing in the market place and sharing resources.

The acquisition will allow Micronet to offer a wider range of solutions to its customers across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK.

Drew Arthur, director of Micronet Systems Australia, said, “This acquisition will improve our ability to service our customers through greater geographic coverage and application of broader support skills. Our ability to provide clients with an end-to-end technology solution, particularly in Retail Point of Sales, is also enhanced.”

As a result of the acquisition, Computerlink will have an office in Sydney and Brisbane and plans to open in Melbourne in the next six to 12 months, increasing the ability to reach new and existing customers more effectively.

“The structure of the acquisition will see the Computerlink brand remain, along with its portfolio of solutions. The number of industries we collectively cover will increase and weÕll be able to bring to bear MicronetÕs sales and marketing infrastructure and expertise,” commented Arthur.

Computerlink has 28 years experience at developing and marketing points of sale, inventory management, and debtor control software for newsagents, general retail and bookstores. It pinoneered the switch from paper-based to computerised accounts for newsagents, using the first generation of IBM PCs.
