A Mexican food favourite is expanding in South Australia. 

Guzman y Gomez (GYG), will be expanding into South Australia for the first time in partnership with Peregrine Corporation.

“We can’t wait to introduce Adelaideans to our delicious Mexican food,” said co-founder and managing director, Steven Marks.

“Thanks to our wonderful partners at Peregrine Corporation, we will be bringing our famous GYG burritos, nachos and guac to lunch and dinner tables around town.

“It’s great to work with people who share our passion for top quality food and customer service, and we look forward to deepening our relationship as we expand our footprint across South Australia,” said Marks.

GYG CEO Mark Hawthorne said the brand selected Peregrine based on the quality and experience of staff on the team, as well as its strong real estate portfolio.

“What Peregrine have shown is that they are able to execute brands to a high standard,” he said.

Peregrine Corporation, which has brought the likes of Krispy Kreme and On the Run Convenience to South Australia, will have the rights to open taquerias in the state and sub franchise. This includes the recruitment process and selection of franchisees, although the network would remain aligned nationally.

“We are looking forward to bringing GYG to South Australia. This partnership fits with our approach to innovation and the timing is right for South Australia to experience GYG’s fresh, authentic Mexican food,” said Peregrine executive chairman, Yasser Shahin.

The move will see GYG in every state across Australia except Tasmania, in its mission to #fixfastfood which is a pledge to improve animal welfare as the first brand to serve 100 percent Australian free range chicken nationally.

The brand is set open its first taqueria in Adelaide within the next 12 months, very likely in the CBD.
