How Desiree DeGruchy works fewer hours, earns a higher income

Desiree DeGruchy entered the world of franchising in May 2013 when she invested in Australia’s first The Coffee Guy franchise, which operates out of Yatala in Queensland.

The decision has been well worth her while – both financially and lifestyle wise.

Over the past 18 months Desiree has built up a loyal customer base, enabling her to save enough money to embark on an eight week European adventure.

“The business has been booming, and I have been able to put enough away to pay for my dream trip and I am taking the van off the road for a short break,” she said.

While Desiree works fewer hours than she did in her former role, where she worked the typical nine to five, she has increased her income.

“My working day begins at 6.15am and ends at 11.45am, and once I’ve cleaned the van and equipment I’m ready to enjoy life by 1pm every day.

“My franchise has given me a new flexible lifestyle that has allowed me to achieve my life goals,” she explained.

Desiree’s business will be closed while she is away, however she is excited to continue to service the local area on her return.

“My customers are loyal, the coffee is fantastic and when I return I will re-visit my customers and continue to run my business in the Yatala area,” she said.

Desiree added another of the key benefits of becoming a The Coffee Guy franchisee is that she gets to call the shots.

“I know I have the skills and confidence to easily continue serving 100 cups of coffee per day, and the beauty of running my own mobile franchise is that I can take an extended break when I need to.”
