Tim Spreadborough was named Hire a Hubby’s National Franchisee of the Year at the brand’s national convention recently, an impressive result considering he was pit against 300 franchisees.

The Wynnum franchisee received the prestigious award, which is designed to recognise those franchisees that demonstrate both business excellence and a commitment to the franchise network, after he achieved 25 percent business growth in the past 12 months.

Spreadborough also recevied the Most Valuable Franchisee award for his support of his fellow Queensland based Hire a Hubby franchisees.

“As one of the more experienced guys in Queensland, I often get called upon to take prospective franchisees out with me on the road to show them what it’s all about.

“I’m also involved in our Enterprise Support Group, a group of 15 top performing Hubbies who get together to share business experiences in order to improve the overall network,” he said.

The top performing franchisee said he was absolutely delighted to win the awards. “It’s a huge pat on the back and for me it’s recognition that I am building a successful business while keeping a balanced lifestyle.

“I won the most valuable franchisee award last year and it’s humbling to get that for the second year running as well as the national award.”

Spreadborough’s sixth year with the franchise saw him implement a number of new strategies, which no doubt contributed to his success over the past 12 months.

In particular, the franchisee increased his focus on customer service and generating new jobs, a move that saw him boost turnover to almost $500,000.

“I’ve got three subcontractors working for me now, which allows me to focus on developing the business and generating new jobs. These guys cover the everyday jobs while I focus on bringing in larger projects.

“Our philosophy is there’s no job too big or too small, so we help locals with everything from installing towel racks through to detailed carpentry work. As a result we’ve established around 100 regular clients across residential, commercial and real estate markets,” he said.

The franchise’s CEO Brendan Green said the National Franchisee of the Year title wasn’t to be taken lightly.

“This award recognises our top franchisee across multiple disciplines including business performance, brand representation and contribution to the franchise system.

“Tim has had an excellent year in all areas and he’s an incredible asset to have in the Hire A Hubby network. He’s thoroughly deserving of every bit of recognition he gets,” added Green.
