Franchising on display at Melbourne expo

Victoria once again plays host to the latest franchise opportunities, new brands and industry advice at the Melbourne Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo.

Being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in South Wharf from August 25-26, the show brings together franchisees, franchisors and industry advisors in one all-inclusive forum.

For event-goers, the expo showcases a range of potential business opportunities across a diverse scope of industries, from some of Australia’s most successful franchise brands to new market innovators.

Event organiser, Tim Collett said this year’s expo sees more brands offering opportunities than ever before.

“The show has grown, we’ve got more people involved, more companies, more concepts, some fabulous home services, professional services, accounting services, and it’s fabulous this year to see so many overseas concepts come into the show,” Collett said.

Emerging brands on show at this year’s expo include, bone density and strengthening gym, OsteoStrong and health and safety franchise, Harness Training, with both brands eager to stamp their claim on the Victorian market.

In addition to the over 100 exhibitors, event-goers have exclusive access to free industry seminars, with franchisees and franchisors from multi-discipline backgrounds sharing their personal stories and advice.

Jim Penman, the man behind Australian icon, Jim’s Mowing will be a keynote speaker at the expo, sharing how he turned his lawn-mowing job as a student into one of Australia’s most recognisable franchises.

Speaking with Inside Franchise Business earlier this year, exhibition manager, Fiona Stacey said the expo was more than just a chance to look and see, it was an important first contact for potential franchise owners.

“It is crucial you do extensive research on any franchise you are looking at,” she says. “The Franchising Expo is a great place to start, or dig deeper into a concept you are considering.”

Melbourne’s expo is traditionally the biggest of the year and serves as a highlight of the Victoria Small Business Festival, which runs throughout August.
