Fastway to success

Sarah Stowe

For franchisee Kerry Noyes, buying a franchise has proven to be a great decision indeed. In just six years since acquiring the rights to operate the Fastway Couriers Gold Coast franchise, she has nearly doubled the size of her operation and today leads a multi-award winning team delivering in excess of 650,000 parcels each year.

So, why do Noyes and her partner, Steve Curtis, believe that their decision to invest in a franchise was the best one for them? Here she outlines her top three reasons …

1. We’re in business for ourselves, but not by ourselves

For us, operating a franchise gives us the freedom of owning our own business, but the security of knowing that we’re not alone. We’re able to stamp our own mark on the business and determine our team culture but at the same time be part of a network that provides us with continual business development support.

2. Not so risky business

We’re all aware of the risks associated with starting a small business. For us, buying into a reputable franchise was a way to minimise our exposure. We had peace of mind knowing that we were acquiring an established concept with proven success. This of course isn’t a success guarantee, but our belief in absolute compliance with our system has definitely underpinned our personal success.

3. Star power

A great brand can attract customers and provide a competitive advantage; however, building a recognised brand can take an enormous investment of time and money. For us, one of the major benefits of being part of an established franchise is that the investment into building the brand has already been done on our behalf. It is then up to us as franchisees to be ambassadors of the brand that we’re essentially owners of, and to ensure that we’re contributing to its continued growth.
