Expansion plans at Ferguson Plarre

The family-owned franchise business, Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses, is searching for new franchisees to support its growth plans as it prepares to celebrate its 110th anniversary next year.

Pam Ferguson, general manager of Ferguson Plarre, said “Despite the economic downturn and uncertainty, Australia has largely avoided the contraction that was predicted for the franchising sector and there’s no better time to get into a franchise business.”

The business has grown by more than 10 per cent every year over the past five years and hopes to open at least five additional stores per year over the next three years.

When considering new franchisees, Ferguson Plarre looks for people who will comply with the company ethos, have a strong work ethic, are well presented, passionate about what they do and fit in well with the company.

“Ours is a customer service based business, so a passion for people is crucial,” Ferguson said. “Our franchisees come from all walks of life, but all share an enthusiasm for business and ambition to succeed. Some of our best franchisees have previously been everyday customers whose loyalty and love for the brand and its products had led them to pursue a franchise of their own.”

Before opening new stores, Ferguson Plarre analyses available customer counts, car parking, local demographics and the potential for future growth.
