Franchise pizza brand Eagle Boys is shouting about taste test results that indicate a preference among surveyed Australians for its pizzas.

Its latest ad campaign focuses on an independent research report commissioned by the nation’s third largest pizza maker which reveals Eagle Boys’ pizzas score a greater share of the flavour vote than Domino’s and Pizza Hut, according to a random blind taste test conducted across Australia.

Eagle Boys national marketing manager Scott Hamilton said the research confirmed feedback from customers that Eagle Boys pizzas tasted better because it used better ingredients and more of them.

“Research proves we are onto a real winner with our bigger bases, fuller toppings, fresher ingredients and larger menu. Eagle Boys also honours competitor coupons, which means you get the best of both worlds — quality pizza at the best possible price.

“We know claiming to have Australia’s tastiest pizza is a big deal. To make sure no one was pulling the wool over pizza lovers’ eyes, we commissioned an independent research company and statistician to conduct the Australia-wide blind taste test,” Hamilton said.

The independent research company randomly selected 420 pizza lovers off the streets from seven locations across the country for blind taste tests of slices of Eagle Boys, Pizza Hut and Domino’s bbq meatlovers, supreme and vegetarian pizza varieties between 30 April and 3 May 2009.

In all three categories Eagle Boys’ claim taste preference: in the vegetarian 47.15 percent against 19.28 percent for Pizza Hut and 33.57 for Domino’s; for the supreme, 45.71 percent preferred Eagle Boys over a 33.57 percent vote for Pizza Hut and a 20.71 percent preference for Domino’s.

The bbq meat lover topping was a closer call, with Eagle Boys scoring a 39.29 percent vote over Pizza Hut’s 32.14 percent and Domino’s 28.57 percent.
