Domino’s kicks off year with tastier, healthier offering

Tasty food doesn’t necessarily mean unhealthy food, Domino’s CEO Don Meij has said following the pizza franchise’s launch of three new product innovations offering “tastier toppings and lower fat”.

Domino’s has committed to using tastier mozzarella cheese which has 30 percent less fat than the product used 12 months ago, as well as pepperoni which has 34 percent less fat.

To celebrate the new ingredients, head development chef, Stefaan Codron has developed the Cheesier Pepperoni and Prawn Supreme pizzas.

“Tasty doesn’t have to mean high fat, nor does low fat have to be bland. We have proven this in the development of our 30 percent lower fat mozzarella and 34 percent lower fat pepperoni,” Domino’s CEO Don Meij said.

“Both of these new ingredients taste far better than they did 12 months ago and the added benefit is they are better for you too.”

In addition to the launch of Cheesier Pepperoni and Prawn Supreme, Domino’s has also launched Chicken Ribs as a new side on the menu. The ribs are mildly spiced with smokey peri peri seasoning, baked not fried and come in packs of four or eight.
